Founded in 1936, Rapids is a family owned company that has service offerings that range from complex design development, to web retail operations and facility operations support programs.

Role Description:
This role would work directly with our Design Consulting Team and provide an opportunity for the intern to learn about how to develop an effective and efficient restaurant or food service operation design and considerations for innovative and attractive interior design for the dining space. Time will be spent on a weekly basis reviewing various career paths available to someone with CAD or Drafting experience to encourage awareness of breadth of options.

Role Responsibilities:
* Keystone Project: Develop restaurant design concept throughout internship for presentation at end of internship to Rapids design team. Gives a unique opportunity to learn all facets of design consideration and receive developmental feedback at end of internship
* Utilize Google SketchUp Make to develop basic restaurant design concepts for Rapids clients
* Coordinate and maintain design reference library for ongoing use by Rapids design consultants
* Perform site visits to restaurant and food service operations with Rapids design consultants to conduct field measurements and develop design packages
* Data and logistics gathering to support senior staff designers

Minimum Requirements:
* Computer drafting experience – Google SketchUp experience a plus
* Strong communication skills
* Prior employment/internship is a plus
* Must be high school student Junior or Senior in good standing
* Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* Business casual attire required

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
