Internship Length: 45 hrs
Working in a museum is fun, exciting and fast-paced. New questions, facts, artifacts, and the stories that bind them together come to light daily. More than just collecting and showing objects the average day of work in a museum includes research, creative design, office management, customer relations, marketing, environmental science, writing, publishing, and a variety of other roles. This intern position will assist the Museum Coordinator in all tasks associated with running a small successful nonprofit museum with areas of focus on tasks the intern is mostly interested in.

This position will provide the intern with a wide variety of experiences that relate to numerous job fields.

Duties:
Assist museum Patrons in research using available tools.
Schedule and provide tours to Patrons upon request.
Keep an open line of communication with board members.
Prepare reports and room for board meetings.
Take reservations, plan, and prepare for Patron use of facilities i.e. weddings, reunions, meetings.
Curate exhibits.
Catalog and store artifacts.
Document history of artifacts.
Identify tasks need to be completed to maintain the museum, delegate them when appropriate or complete them.
Monitor for needs of the museum including supplies, funding, and resources and plan accordingly.
Review grant opportunities and apply for grants that can fulfill the needs of the museum.
Complete reports for grants and county supervisors on the usage of funds.
Monitor grounds and communicate needs to the appropriate committee or address the need when appropriate.
Schedule, plan, and prepare for events of the historical society.
Promote the museum through Facebook and website.
Write press releases when needed, look for opportunities to promote the museum and plan accordingly.
Any other task that is necessary to ensure the operations of the museum are running smoothly.

Qualifications:
Intern must have a desire to learn and try new things.
Intern must be willing to work with a variety of people.
An ability to adapt to change is essential for this role.
An intertest in history is not necessary but can add to the enjoyment of the position.
