Chiropractic & Wellness Intern

Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: 8:00 AM-6:00 PM

Essential functions:

  • Assist the doctor and therapist with the treatment of patients.
  • Assist front desk staff with check in, check out, meet and greet of patients
  • Accompany the doctor(s) or team in daily activities. 
  • Answer phones, filing and data entry.
  • Greet patients.
  • Maintain HIPPA and professionalism in all encounters
  • Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image. Use appropriate behavior in keeping with Back in Line Family Chiropractic & Wellness’ mission, vision and beliefs, and in accordance with operating procedures and policies.

Minimum requirements:

  • Skills/Knowledge: Ability to follow instructions.  Must have strong organizational and communication skills, be a team player, and enjoy working with the public without bias or prejudice. Must be detail-oriented. Professional and trustworthy conduct is required. Student must be courteous and respectful. Client confidentiality is a must.    
  • Experience/Education: Must be a high school junior or senior in good standing.  Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.    
  • Physical effort and dexterity: Spends majority of time sitting, standing, bending, lifting and walking. 
  • Environment and Scheduling: Work is performed in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled environment.   

Breakdown of Summer Program:

1. Front Office Experience (seeing how valuable the customer experience is and often times more vital than even the treatment). (10 hours)

    - engaging with clients 

    - check in and check out process 

    - basic insurance knowledge and payments

    - seeing the many tasks the front desk has to juggle daily to make our office work well

    - work as a team with the front staff 

 

2. Clinic Observation  (15 hours)

    - 10 hours of direct patient contact from all 4 doctors, seeing various techniques, approaches, and doc-patient interaction 

    - 1-2 lunch or coffee dates with me to talk/discuss/ask questions

    - help clarify what you like, and what you don't like as a patient, and then switching the roles, thinking like a provider. 

    

3. Marketing and Branding - Content Creation (15 hours) -- this would be a little more of your own control 

    - Snapchat, instagram - create content/copy for us to share - or you manage our accounts

    - help offer feedback about 18-24 year olds, how and why do they want to seek care? Do we serve them well? 

    - is our vision and mission being perceived as we intend? - aka, we treat our patients how WE like to be treated. We want to honor their time, money, and health. We are equals and partners in their health goals. There are many ways to help a patient feel better while honoring them. 

 

4. Running a business, and being a provider, and the many hats of juggling life (4 hours)

    - Seeing the back end of business operations 

    - connecting with team

    - connecting with the other providers for their needs

   - the management of office operation

Attire:

·         A BIL issued Polo will be given to you. Please wear with black pants and closed toe shoes.

·         When wearing BIL attire, you are representing our office, please keep in accordance of best representation of our office.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
