Chiropractic Student Intern

Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: 10:00-6:00, M-F

Essential functions:
* Assist the doctor with evaluation and treatment of patients.
* Assist front desk staff with patient reception.
* Accompany the doctors or team in daily activities.
* Answer phones, filing and data entry.
* Maintain HIPPA and professionalism in all encounters.
* Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image.

Minimum requirements:
* Skills/Knowledge: Ability to follow instructions. Must have strong organizational and communication skills, be a team player, and enjoy working with the public without bias or prejudice. Must be detail-oriented. Professional and trustworthy conduct is required. Student must be courteous and respectful. Client confidentiality is a must.
* Experience/Education: Must be a high school junior or senior in good standing. Must have a positive attitude.
* Physical effort and dexterity: Spends majority of time sitting, standing, bending, lifting and walking.
* Environment and Scheduling: Work is performed in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled environment.

Breakdown of Summer 2019 Program:
1. Clinic Reception Experience (10 hours)
a. engaging with clients
b. check-in and check-out process
c. receivables knowledge and handling payments
d. seeing/experiencing receptionist multitasking
e. work as a team with the front staff
2. Clinic Observation (15 hours)
a. 10 hours of direct patient contact from all local doctors, observing doctor-patient interaction
b. down-time Q&A sessions with owner and other doctors
c. patient & doctor role-playing for experience of applying clinical management skills
3. Marketing and Branding (15 hours)
a. Examination of market demand
b. Examination of service (profession) attributes
c. Profession’s role in health care system
d. My Chiro’s “focus” in providing chiropractic
4. Running a business, and being a provider, and the many hats of juggling life (4 hours)
a. Career development – becoming a chiropractor (including the variety of specialties)
b. Creating business facilities & systems
c. Developing and managing a “team”
d. Operations & Maintenance Attire: A black My Chiro T-shirt will be provided. Dark jeans (non-distressed) or dark pants are preferred.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
