Intern Title: Fitness Programs Intern

The intern will work closely with the Group Exercise Director, the Personal Training Director, numerous fitness leads and personal trainers to experience the delivering of high-quality fitness and training services. This Internship is designed to provide the student with a well-rounded, hands-on experience learning all aspects of a fitness program.

 

Essential Functions/Tasks:

·         Learn about managing a fitness program

·         Shadow group fitness and small group training

·         Learn about the role of a personal trainer

·         Learning about the administration and leadership of a comprehensive fitness program

·         Intern will work closely with the Group Exercise Director, the Personal Training Director, numerous fitness leads and personal trainers to experience the delivering of high-quality fitness and training services.

Details of the internship experience/responsibilities:

The internship experience may include:

·         Preparing for certification as a Personal Trainer

·         Assisting in the maintenance of a clean office and work spaces of team

·         Exercise programming discussions

·         Attending in-house Continuing education presentations

·         Delivering fitness equipment orientations

·         Setting up professional outreach/interviews of other fitness/training programs in the community

·         Health and fitness newsletter article writing/video creation

·         Shadow personal trainers

·         Evaluating and shadowing group exercise instructors

·         Update information on our team website

·         Provide journal/weekly written submissions of learning outcomes

 

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

Applicants Must:

·         Have a minimum GPA of 3.0

·         Have outstanding interpersonal skills

·         Be self-directed and able to take initiative

·         Be highly motivated, creative and willing to learn

·         Have a positive attitude

·         Have interest in Fitness Leadership/Fitness Programming/Personal Training/Exercise Science as a career/major of study

 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
