Office Hours: 8am - 5pm

 

Just Automotive is a locally owned and operated full service mechanic with two locations in Williamsburg.  The experienced staff performs scheduled maintenance and minor automotive repairs, suspension replacements, and transmission services.

The Auto Mechanic Assistant Intern, under the general supervision of Just Automotive Staff, will have the opportunity to observe staff interactions with customers, see a variety of auto diagnostic techniques and repairs, and gain familiarity with the day to day operation of a local mechanic shop.

Essential Functions:

  • Use and model appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the organization, and in accordance with operation procedures and policies.
  •  Welcome, value and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences.
  • Assist and observe certified mechanics.
  • Secure needed parts for the mechanics.
  • Observe trained professional(s) in diagnostic procedures.
  • Organize shop area including putting parts and equipment away.
  • Detail vehicles as assigned.
  • Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image.  

Minimum Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge:  Must have the ability to follow instructions, strong organizational and communication skills, and be courteous and respectful.  Must be a detail-oriented team player.  Professional, trustworthy, and confidential conduct is required.  Intern must enjoy working with the public without bias, be a self-starter, motivated, and able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing. 

Experience/Education:  Must be a high school student in good standing, and interested in pursuing a career in mechanics after high school.  Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.  Natural mechanical abilities helpful, along with basic knowledge of tools.

Attire: Plan to dress appropriately for a shop setting.  Jeans or workpants free of holes, closed toed shoes and plain t-shirt and/or sweatshirt. 

General Physical Activities with or without reasonable accommodation:  Occasional sitting, standing, reaching, walking or lifting up to 30lbs.  Frequent kneeling, crouching, crawling, grasping, pulling, pushing or lifting over 30 lbs. 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, WILL BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
