Internship Title: CNA/Nursing Intern (Tenant Assistant Position)

Office Hours: Varies (only fall and spring opportunities)

Essential Functions:

· Learn about the daily functions of a healthcare aid in a retirement community

· Assist with personal care, as needed and instructed

· Communicate and interact with residents, family, and staff

· Exercise confidentiality of resident information at all times

· Help keep work areas neat and organized

· Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision, and beliefs of Melrose Meadows and in accordance with operating procedures and policies

Minimum Requirements:

· Comfortable in visiting with residents

· Ability to follow instructions, be a team player, have a positive attitude and enjoy working with the elderly

· Must be detail oriented, flexible, courteous, and professional

· Must have strong organizational and communication skills

· Must be a high school student in good standing

· Professional appearance is essential

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT: Student must complete a background check and be approved prior to onsite work.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
