Imhoff Electric is a locally owned business, located in Williamsburg, IA.

The Electrician Intern, under supervision of employees, will have the opportunity to explore a career as an electrician. The intern will gain electrical experience in new construction and remodels, gain basic understanding of high voltage wiring, and learn the value of working in a skilled trade.

Essential Functions

Use and model appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision, and beliefs and in accordance with operation procedures and policies.

Learn to interpret code rules and apply them to everyday applications.
Work alongside Journeyman electricians.

Minimum Requirements

Skills/Knowledge: Must have ability to follow instructions, strong organizational skills, be a team player, and enjoy working with the public without bias or prejudice. Must be detail-oriented, courteous and respectful. Professional and trustworthy conduct is required. Intern must enjoy working in a team environment, be a self-starter, motivated, and able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.

Experience/Education: Must be a high school student in good standing, and interested in pursuing an electrical, or skilled trades career after high school. Natural mechanical abilities helpful, along with basic knowledge of tools. Must have a valid Iowa Driver’s License, and must be respectful but not afraid of electricity.

Attire: Plan to dress appropriately for varied outdoor weather conditions. Jeans or workpants free of holes, closed toed shoes required, work boots recommended. Plain t-shirt and/or sweatshirt.

General Physical Activities with or without reasonable accommodation: Occasional sitting, standing, reaching, walking or lifting up to 30lbs. Frequent kneeling, crouching, crawling, grasping, pulling, pushing or lifting over 30 lbs. Will be required work outdoors subject to current weather conditions, and may be required to bend, stoop or observe in awkward positions.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, WILL BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
