Engineering HS Intern

  • The intern will participate in cross-functional activities/projects involving various departments with an emphasis on Manufacturing Engineering. The intern will assist engineers and lab technicians in performing root cause investigation and failure analysis of failures from the factory, field, and/or quality testing of new components/software/documentation. The intern may be requested to track and manage material flow activities and provide a weekly progress report to the manager.  The intern may be asked to perform other duties by the staff or manager. The intern will be evaluated on performance of the projects assigned and interaction with suppliers, other employees and customers. Work hours to be negotiated and agreed upon by the manager and intern.

     

    Basic Requirements

    ·         Ability to follow instructions

    ·         Basic computer skills (Microsoft)

    ·         Knowledge of any coding languages a plus

    ·         Excellent communication skills

    o    Speaking, phone calls, meetings, presentations, writing email, documenting tests/results/findings/conclusions

    ·         Ability to work in both a team environment and independently

    ·         Attention to detail

    ·         Organizational skills

    ·         Possess a professional and positive attitude

    ·         Maintains all confidentiality of all Whirlpool Corporation

    ·         Must be a high school junior or senior

    o    Minimum of 16 years old

    ·         Must be a US Citizen

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
