Internship Title: Legal Intern (High School)

Host is a sole practitioner and the Washington County Magistrate. Intern will observe magistrate court on Thursdays at the Washington County, starting at 9:00 AM - 3:00PM or 4:00PM. All onsite hours would be completed on Thursday’s.

 

Minimum Requirements:

·         Skills/Knowledge:  Must have the ability to follow instructions, strong organizational and communication skills, and be a courteous and respectful team-player. Must be detail-oriented and professional.  Trustworthy and confidential conduct is required; student must maintain client confidentiality at all times. Intern must enjoy working with the public without bias, be a self-starter, motivated and able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.  Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being open minded.

·         Experience/Education:  Must be a high school student in good standing, and interested in pursuing a legal career after high school. 

·         Attire: Plan to dress appropriately for an office setting.  Khakis or dress pants, closed-toe, comfortable shoes and conservative/professional tops.

 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

 

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
