Architectural Intern

Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: 8:00-4:00

Essential Functions:

  • Archiving Projects:  Drawings, correspondence and updating archive list.
  • Update Library:  Assist in updating reference materials.
  • Printing/Plotting:  Run prints and plots, collate and organize mailing.
  • CAD drafting:  Exposure to CAD drafting and other computer-aided design programs (no actual CADD work to be done).
  • Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote a positive image.  Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision, and beliefs and in accordance with operating procedures and policies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Skills/Knowledge:  Ability to follow instructions.  Professional and trustworthy conduct is required.  Must be courteous and respectful.  Ability to learn quickly.  Must communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Strong preference will be given to students in or those who have completed the Kirkwood ACE Academy or have taken Project Lead the Way classes.
  • Must be a high school student in good standing.  Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.
  • Business casual attire.
  • Exercise good Telephone/Meeting Etiquette and Punctuality
  • This job description lists the basics of this position but should be with the understanding that the field of architecture is varied and demanding in respect to delivering a comprehensive set of construction documents.
  • This position will entail working with several project managers along with the administrative staff.  Good communication skills and the ability to organize will be essential for this candidate.

This description does not list all duties. The intern may be asked to perform other duties by the staff or supervisor. The intern will be evaluated on performance of the projects listed as well as interaction with employees and clients. On-site hours will be negotiated with each candidate.
