Equestrian Program Assistant

Office Hours: weekends

The student will become a volunteer with Miracles In Motion and work alongside staff and seasoned volunteers to assist with programming needs. 

Qualifications/ Special Skills: The student must be friendly, enthusiastic, dependable, positive, and a great team player. The student must be able to take direction and follow-through responsibly. Professional and trustworthy conduct is required at all times. The student must have a willingness and/or interest in working compassionately with individuals with special needs. 

Experience with horses is a plus. Training is provided for all activities in which the student will assist AND IS REQUIRED as a prerequisite.

 

Horse Care – The student will assist with chores including cleaning and grooming. Chores are done at 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM each day and
will be included in the internship as fits in the student's schedule.

Programming – The student will be trained to be a Sidewalker in order to work with riding students during riding sessions which are held 
each Saturday morning. Riding lessons are available based on the weather. 

   

Students will be evaluated on the performance and outcome of the projects, as well as the interaction with volunteers, students, and staff.  Work hours are determined based on each candidate’s availability and Miracles In Motion programming needs.


THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
