Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: 8-5

Essential Functions:

  • Student will rotate exposures to the following departments as per availability determined by department managers; Business Office, Radiology, Nursing Floor, Family Medicine Clinic, Outpatient Specialty Clinic, Pharmacy, Cardiac Pulmonary Rehab, Therapy, Surgery.
  • Exercise confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  • Accurately file patient data in appropriate areas.
  • Maintains competency of fax machine, copier, and computer equipment.
  • Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image. 
  • Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision and beliefs and in accordance with operating procedures and policies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Skills/Knowledge:  Ability to follow instructions.  Must have strong organizational and communication skills, be a team player, and enjoy working with the public without bias or prejudice.  Must be detail-oriented.  Professional and trustworthy conduct is required.  Must be courteous and respectful.  Basic computer skills needed as well as knowledge of office equipment.
  • Must be a high school student in good standing.  Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.
  •  Understanding of patient confidentiality.
  • Good public relations practices.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • All Interns must complete "Student and Intern Requirements" paperwork, prior to starting their on-site hours.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
