Teacher Assistant/Classroom Assistant

Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: school hours

Essential Functions:

Intern will work 10 hours weekly with grade school students.
Will interact with students one-to-one or in small groups of 2-3 students.
Will read and discuss stories and assist in preparing materials for the classroom.
Will engage in various reading activities that may include playing games and reinforcing skills that have been covered in the classroom.
Will engage in various language activities that may include editing and typing student’s stories.
Will engage in various math activities that may include playing games and reinforcing skills covered in the classroom.
Will accompany class to recess.

Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image. Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision and beliefs and in accordance with operating procedures and policies.

Minimum Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge: Ability to follow instructions. Professional and trustworthy conduct is required. Must be courteous and respectful. Ability to learn quickly. Must communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Must be a high school student in good standing. Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.
Business casual attire.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
