Physical Therapist Intern

Internship Length: 45 hrs

Wapsi Physical Therapy was established in 2003 to provide quality physical therapy for their patients.  The staff has experience in pain reduction, strengthening, increasing movement, and balance training. The highly trained staff is available to assist in designing a program for you and encourage you every step of the way.

The Physical Therapist Intern, under general supervision of staff, will observe staff interactions with patients, learn about physical therapy treatments and techniques, and gain knowledge through observations of staff members at work.  THIS INTERNSHIP IS 45 HOURS ONLY.

Essential Functions:

  • Use and model appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the organization, and in accordance with operation procedures and policies.
  • Welcome, value and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences.
  • Assist the therapist with the treatment of patients.  Patient confidentiality must be exercised at all times.
  • Accompany the therapist in daily activities.
  • Greet patients, answer phones, assist with filing and data entry.
  • Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image.  

Minimum Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge:  Must have the ability to follow instructions, strong organizational and communication skills, and be courteous and respectful.  Must be a detail-oriented team player.  Professional, trustworthy, and confidential conduct is required.  Intern must enjoy working with the public without bias, be a self-starter, motivated, and able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.  Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.

Experience/Education:  Must be a high school student in good standing, and interested in pursuing a healthcare career after high school.  General computer knowledge is helpful.

Attire: Business Casual attire is required

General Physical Activities with or without reasonable accommodation:  Frequent sitting, standing, reaching, walking or lifting up to 30lbs.  Occasional kneeling, crouching, crawling, grasping, pulling, pushing or lifting over 30 lbs. 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, WILL BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
