Dental Assistant Intern

Office Hours: M,T,Th, 8-5, F 8-12

Anamosa Dental Associates is located in Anamosa, Iowa.  

 

The Dental Assistant Intern under the general supervision of staff, will observe interactions with patients, perform clerical duties, and learn more about a dental career through this experience. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Use and model appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the organization, and in accordance with operation procedures and policies.
  • Welcome, value and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences.
  • Work on setup, breakdown of operatories and sterilization of equipment.
  • Perform duties involved in the clerical functions of the dental office.
  • Accurately enter patient clinical and personal data into computer.
  •  Observe dentists and assistant during day to day duties.  Patient confidentiality must be exercised at all times.
  • Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image.  

Minimum Requirements:

 Skills/Knowledge:  Must have the ability to follow instructions, strong organizational and communication skills, and be courteous and respectful.  Must be a detail-oriented team player.  Professional, trustworthy, and confidential conduct is required.  Intern must enjoy working with the public without bias, be a self-starter, motivated, and able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.  Must possess the ability to think on their feet and work well under pressure.

Experience/Education:  Must be a high school student in good standing, and interested in a dental career after high school.  Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.

Attire: Business casual attire is required.  Khakis or dress pants, and a professional, conservative top.  No jeans with holes or tshirts or sweatshirts with graphics.

General Physical Activities with or without reasonable accommodation:  Frequent sitting, standing, reaching, walking or lifting up to 30lbs.  Occasional kneeling, crouching, crawling, grasping, pulling, pushing or lifting over 30 lbs. 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
