Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: 8-4

Essential Functions:

  • Help with answering phones, greeting the public, and working at the front desk. 
  • Inventory/sorting/file maintenance of the digital archives in the Museum collections.
  • Assisting in photographing the Museum’s Collections
  • Experience museum methods and policies. Learn how historical objects are managed/displayed/cared for and how collections are marketed and maintained.
  • Research and record collections.
  • Assist in producing the upcoming exhibit by researching and other duties as required.
  • Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image.  Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision and beliefs of the museum and in accordance with operating procedures and policies.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Skills/Knowledge:  Ability to follow instructions and work independently.  Must have strong organizational and communication skills, be a team player, and enjoy working with the public without bias or prejudice. 
  • Must be detail-oriented.  Professional and trustworthy conduct is required.  Must be courteous and respectful.  Punctuality is a must. 
  • Must be a high school junior or senior in good standing. 
  • Must be mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.
  • Must have a demonstrated interest in Art/History.

 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
