Naturalist Intern

Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Essential Duties:

Assist the Naturalist with program preparation and accompany the Naturalist to programs scheduled on days the intern will be working.
Assist the Naturalist with display design, research, and construction.
Assist the Naturalist with live animal care and upkeep. (Reptiles and Amphibians).
Assist the Naturalist with surveys and data collection.

Other Duties as Requested:

Assist with maintenance of the Nature Center.
Assist with grounds upkeep around Nature Center.
Any other duties as requested by other full-time staff or supervisor.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Must be prompt and dependable.
Must be a high school student in good standing.
Must be poised, mature, and possess a positive attitude while being flexible and quick thinking with the ability to adapt and change and adapt to new situations.
Ability to follow instructions a must.
Must be able to perform routine tasks without being prompted.
Must be professional, courteous, respectful, and trustworthy.
Must be able to work well with children and adults of all ages.

Part-time internships are on a non-paid basis. Dedicated volunteers are extremely helpful to our staff and volunteer experience is a valuable asset to students.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
