Minimum Requirements:
 

·  Must be detail oriented, have ability to follow instructions, have strong organizational and communication skills, be a team player, and enjoy working with the public  

    without bias or prejudice. 

·  Must be a high school student in good standing and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.

·  Professionalism and trustworthy conduct within the clinic is mandatory.  Students must be courteous and respectful.  We take our patient’s care seriously. Respect the patient’s privacy.

·  Direct patient contact is off limits to all volunteers unless under the direct supervision of the overseeing physical therapist for educational purposes.

·  Dress code is professionally casual.

Essential Functions: 

·  Observe clinicians during patient care. This may include athletic coverage away from the clinic.

·  Assist with laundry duties: change linen after each patient with proper disposal of soiled material. Keep linen well stocked in plinths.

·  Clean equipment in gym area weekly.

·  Return displaced equipment to proper storage locations.

·  Assist clinicians as needed: obtain equipment, modalities, etc.

·  Assist in keeping the department neat, well organized, safe, and professional in appearance.

 

 

Other Guidelines: 

·  Student will call 2 weeks prior to internship to discuss start date, hours, and dress code.

·  Refer all questions regarding medical or rehabilitation treatment to the supervising clinician.

·  Patient’s charts are confidential and can only be read under the direct consent of the patient or overseeing therapist.

·  The computers are only to be used with permission.

·  An orientation will be performed to review job responsibilities, orientation to the clinic and staff, outline schedule and hours, and develop goals. Weekly discussion of students focus questions and other assignments will be performed.

 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
