  • Minimum Requirements:

     •Skills/Knowledge:  Enjoy animals and people, prompt and dependable, takes pride and ownership in work.  Must be a self-starter, team player and able to perform routine tasks without being prompted.

    •Must be a high school student in good standing.  Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible. Ability to follow instructions.  Professional and trustworthy conduct is required.  Must be courteous and respectful. 

    •Science and animal classes a plus.

    •Working Conditions:  Able to work under adverse medical emergencies and maintaining self-control.

    •Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image.  Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision and beliefs and in accordance with operating procedures and policies.

     

     

    Job Summary

    Under immediate direction, maintains a safe and sanitary facility for the shelter animals and the public. Provides humane handling and care of all shelter animals.  Assures that all animals nutritional, housing, emotional and medical needs are met on a daily basis.

    Job Duties

    • Cleans and disinfects all inside and outside kennel areas, cages and animal supplies or equipment.
    • Maintains all custodial duties and appearance of the shelter
    • Assist in temperament evaluating of all the animals
    • Medicates animals as directed
    • Tests and reads medical screening results.
    • Provides educational information to the public
    • Provides computer input
    • Volunteer opportunities available for internship students:
  • ·         Animal photography

    ·         Dog Walking and bathing

    ·         Petting and Brushing dogs and cats

    ·         Making enrichments items for animals

  • THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

    SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
