Mid-Prairie Middle School: Mid-Prairie Middle School is located in Kalona in Southeast Iowa approximately 18 miles south of Iowa City and 15 miles north of Washington. Mid-Prairie Middle School is a proud part of the Mid-Prairie School District.

Chef Assistant

Using safe food handling techniques along with proper hand washing, intern will share in the tasks of food preparation for the day’s lunch. The Prep tasks may include but are not exclusive to

· Setting up the daily Salad bar

· Helping to serve and clean up breakfast

· Preparing Fruit—Washing, sorting and portioning

· Preparing fresh vegetables—Washing, sorting and portioning

· Panning up frozen food products

· Portioning Bread products

· Portioning dessert products

· Preparing from scratch bread using standardized recipes

· Preparing from scratch desserts using standardized recipes

If at any time, intern is sick (experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, fever, jaundice or other signs of contagion) and is unable to report to work, she should call Beth Shetler at 319-855-0690.

If intern is to arrive at 7 am or anytime before the main school doors are open, she needs to go around to the garage and enter through the back door of the kitchen.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
