Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: 24 hours

Manufacturing Assistant
Weeks 1-3:  Mon-Thur Utility Associate in Machine Shop and Mold Center; Friday: CIVCO assimilation*

Weeks 4-6:  Mon-Thur Labeling Associate in Labeling; Friday: job shadow in shipping, warehouse
·
Weeks 7-9: Mon-Thur Cleanroom Associate; Friday: job shadow machine operation positions and CIVCO assimilation*

*CIVCO assimilation includes familiarization and some job shadowing of non-production areas, including Customer Service, marketing, sales, engineering, quality, sourcing, planning, technical communications, finance, and human resources.  We think this would give the student a broader overview of the business and put some of the production work in perspective in terms of type of work, need for quality, business impact, communication skills, etc.

All of the positions would be manual work with mostly following of written and verbal directions to complete tasks.  Typically they will rotate per hour to a different task on a line or between different activities.  This would not include any machine operation.  The job shadowing would be to allow them to learn about other production jobs that require more critical skills or could pose a hazard to the untrained individual, so they would observe but not perform the work during this time.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
