Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: 8:00-5:00

GOAL:  
To acquaint the student with the many ways that graphical representations of business information, whether in print or in electronic media, influence customers and how those interactions with the customer influence the business.  

At Monkeythis, we believe it's important to understand each team member’s role as it relates to the function of the agency.   Therefore, each interns’ specific Goals and Expectations are developed after a second interview, and will be based on that particular intern’s interests, goals and strengths

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Will review graphic information created by and available from Monkeythis.
  • Will review graphic information from competitors of Monkeythis
  • Will make a comparative analysis of the two.
  • Will decide on a concept on which to work - a communication or promotion that can be sold to customers.
  • Will develop promotional materials with the assistance of professionals that may include the promotion of physical materials such as office supplies, creation of printed materials, or web creations - student project will be a real product, not mock.
  • Will use and be coached on design layouts and tools such as Illustrator and other design programs. 
  • Will be trained in graphics production requirements and measure customer impact.
  • Project will require creativity. Flexibility is a definite asset.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Skills/Knowledge: Ability to follow instructions and stay on task with minimal supervision.
  • Professional and trustworthy conduct is required. Basic understanding of communication skills. 
  • Must be friendly and eager to work and learn. 
  • Professional customer service skills and attitude are required for success. 
  • Understanding that customer confidentiality is expected.

 

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • Must be a high school junior or senior in good standing. 
  • Have a working knowledge of Illustrator.  
  • Demonstrate ability to use the computer and interest in the field of graphics. 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
