JOB TITLE: Construction Management Intern
REPORTS TO: Construction Director/Manager and/or Executive Director
(Students under 18 are restricted in the tasks they can do; in order to achieve hours, there will be an office side to the position.)

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Construction Manager, the Construction Management Intern is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations on Cedar Valley various construction sites, to include new construction and A Brush with Kindness program projects. The Construction Management Intern has responsibility for assisting in both the construction office/warehouse and on the build site.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ø  Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities. 

Ø  Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with volunteers, providing exceptional customer service at all times. 

Ø  Excellent verbal and written communication skills in individual and group settings.

Ø  Basic computer skills to include proficiency in word-processing programs as well as e-mail and internet operations. 

Position Description:

Ø  Assist in coordinating on-site construction activities in cooperation with relevant staff to include Volunteer Coordinator, Construction Assistant, etc.

Ø  Assist Construction Director/Manager in the development of home construction schedules and manage sites in accordance with it.

Ø  Assist in the development of the annual construction plan in conjunction with Construction Manager, Executive Director and Construction Committee.

Ø  Attend Construction meetings and Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity (CVHFH) staff meetings

Ø  Maintain a safe and volunteer-friendly work site at all times, enforcing safety guidelines whenever necessary

Ø  Help to maintain functional inventory of tools and supplies. Assist in the maintenance and organization of Habitat’s construction facility

Ø  Report promptly to the Construction Director/Manager any on-site accidents involving staff, sub-contractors, volunteers, homeowners or AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) 

Ø  Assist in the solicitation and management of construction bids, grant compliance documents, etc.

Ø  Assist in the development and implementation of bid packages, construction permits, etc.

Ø  Other duties as required and requested by Construction Director/Manager and/or Executive Director

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
