The clinic contains exam and surgery rooms for small animals, as well as an indoor chute system and holding pens to accommodate large animals.

JOB TITLE: Large Animal Technician Summer Intern Williamsburg Office

JOB SUMMARY:

The large animal technician summer intern position will gain knowledge from assisting the large animal veterinarians. Veterinary Medical Center will schedule the intern’s hours based on each day’s large animal appointments.

JOB GOALS:

* To give an overview of a typical large animal veterinarian’s schedule.

* To learn how a large animal technician relates with veterinarians.

JOB DUTIES:

* Help prepare vaccinations and equipment for daily appointments

* Assist large animal veterinarian during onsite farm visits or in clinic. MUST COMPLETE WORKSITE VISIT CONSENT FORM.

* Take notes or document vaccinations and services provided

* Fill out travel sheets with veterinarian

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires excellent customer service and communication skills

Ability to multi-task is essential

Willing to “jump in” whenever needed

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
