Sheriff's Department Law Enforcement Rotation

Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: 8-5

Functions:
Student will be exposed to all age appropriate aspects of the department as directed and approved through Sheriff Forsythe to include:
  • Jail Rotation
  • Door Operations
  • Booking
  • Dispatch/911
  • Civil Division
  • Filing, administrative  and organizational aspects of the positions
  • Investigation (visit with the detective on duty)
  • Visit St Luke's Sex Abuse unit as appropriate with Benton County Sheriff's department representative
  • Patrol exposures (with appropriate parental releases if minor)
  • Shadow the chief administrator

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess good communication and organizational skills. Be detail oriented.
  • Sign waiver of liability form.
  • Sign Patrol Ride-Along Confidentiality Statement and Intern Confidentiality Statement form and abide by these agreements.

  • You will be expected to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Be prompt and dependable. Take pride and ownership in your work. You must be a self-starter, team player and able to perform routine tasks without being prompted.
  • You must be a high school student in good standing. You must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible. You must be able to follow instructions.
  • Professional and trustworthy conduct is required. You must be courteous and respectful.
  • Business casual attire is appropriate.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
