Nursing Student Intern

Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: 7:30-5:00PM

Essential Functions:

Exercise confidentiality of patient and clinic information at all times.
Completes usual and specific assignments with consistent attention to details.
Provides the highest level of services to all patients.
Assists the supervisor or clerk with various tasks involved in the area of nursing for a complex patient population.
Shadowing clinical team, rooming patients, vitals, submitted prescriptions etc.
May occasionally observe X-Ray, and lab.

Minimum Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge: Ability to follow instructions.  Must have strong organizational and communication skills, be a team player, and enjoy working with the public without bias or prejudice.  Must be detail oriented.  Professional and trustworthy conduct is required.  Must be courteous and respectful.
Must be posed, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.
Must attend orientation to insure an understanding of confidentiality, safety and security, infection control and customer service.
Student must complete prescribed pre-internship health screenings by their family physician (up to date immunization records, flu shot, current TB screen and general health exam).
Student must attend HIPPA and safety training through Unity Point -St Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids prior to start.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
