Functions:

· Under the supervision of the Benton County Secondary Road Department, the student intern willbe assigned duties to educate him/her about the occupation of a diesel engine and heavyequipment mechanic. These duties will include but are not limited to preventativemaintenance, repair, diagnostics, and component rebuild.

· Student will be required to help with day-to-day operations that occur during normal work hours of the Secondary Roads Shop.

· Any work performed by student will be under the direct supervision of an accredited mechanic, welder, or operator employed by Benton County.

· Student will meet the performance and safety standards and specifications held by our department, as well as any manufacturer of the equipment they will be working on.

This description does not list all the duties. Intern may be asked to perform other duties by the staff or supervisor. Intern will be evaluated on performance of the projects listed as well as interaction with employees and clients. On-site hours will be negotiated with each candidate.
