Camp Courageous is a non-profit 501(c)(3) located just outside Monticello, IA. The mission of Camp Courageous is to provide year-round recreational and respite care opportunities for individuals with special needs and their families. Founded in 1972, the camp has always run on donations, without government assistance, without formal sponsorship, and without paid fund-raisers. Operating on over 400 acres and utilizing over 30 facilities, Camp Courageous offers a whole range of activities, including a travel program, for campers to enjoy, no matter their abilities. Role Description:

This role would work directly with the Marketing Director and provide and opportunity for the intern to learn about how to develop and execute effective marketing strategies and event planning in a non-profit setting. This role would also interact with the Volunteer Coordinator. This role would expose the intern to the day-to-day activities and practices of non-profit marketing and show potential career paths in the marketing/communications/public relations realm. Essential Functions.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with special events:  Back to School Festival, Pancake Breakfast, Stuff the Bus, Cent-A-Gallon, holiday mailing and more
  • Assist with contacting volunteers for events
  • Assist with content and layout of the Courier
  • Assist with design and execution of digital signage
  • Assist with weekly emails 
  • Assist with website updates
  • Sharp creative ideas, thoughts and concerns during internship
  • Help keep work area neat and organized to promote positive image.  Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision and beliefs and in accordance with the operating procedures and policies
  • Perform other duties as needed

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
