Community Prevention Specialist Intern

Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: 9-5

Functions:

  • Student assists with the development or strengthening of the Middle School/High School student advocacy groups and Coalition youth advisory group
  • Student assists in developing and implementing social media and marketing campaigns for Middle School/High School audiences as well as adult audiences
  • Student assists with writing and publishing advocacy articles in area newspapers, coalition newsletter and website
  • Student assists director with planning and implementation of coalition community events
  • Student has the opportunity to attend the Youth Substance Use Prevention- Day on the Hill- at the Capitol with the director
  • Student represents the organization in a positive manner in all aspects

Requirements:

  • Good communication, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Able to use basic office equipment including, telephone, copier, fax, computer
  • Prompt and dependable, takes pride and ownership in work 
  • Must be a self-starter, team player and able to perform routine tasks without being prompted
  • Must be a high school student in good standing 
  • Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible. 
  • Ability to follow instructions 
  • Must be courteous and respectful; professional and trustworthy conduct is required
  • Business casual attire is required

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
