Anderson-Bogert Engineers is a full service civil engineering and surveying firm with capabilities in:

Essential Functions:

This is a general job description of the typical activities performed by our interns.  This may not be a complete list, nor is there a guarantee that all activities listed will be available for the intern at the time of engagement.  This position is for 4-5 weeks with an estimated 8-10 hours per week.  A typical schedule might be two-4 hour days from 8:00 to 12:00 or 1:00 to 5:00.  Actual work hours will be negotiated with the intern candidate.

Typical work activities include observing and working with engineering staff designers and project managers, field visits to construction sites (students will ride in company vehicles to engineering job sites with employees who have clearance to drive, as appropriate), exposure to reading construction plans, assist field survey crews in surveying, construction staking, and other survey activities, attend client project review meetings, attend project public information meeting, exposure to computer aided drafting (CAD), assist with office cleanup activities, scanning documents, assisting with filing, assist with assembling project plans, specifications and bid documents, and other miscellaneous activities.

Minimum Requirements:

Preference given to students who completed the Kirkwood ACE Academy and/or taken Project Lead the Way classes.

Ability to follow instructions. Professional and trustworthy conduct. Courteous and respectful. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.

DRESS CODE:

  • Office attire is business casual. Typically slacks or skirt and a collared shirt or professional blouse.
  • We will let you know if you will be in the field at least a day before you go so you may dress appropriately that day. Attire for field work on survey crew will be sturdy jeans and a short sleeve appropriate tee-shirt. No shorts as you may be on a construction site or out in undeveloped fields with weeds and brush. Work boots, sneakers that can get muddy, or other closed-toed shoes appropriate for walking wooded/overgrown environments.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
