Job Title: Community Healthcare Intern

Purpose of the position:

This position was created to provide high school age students an opportunity to be exposed to a family practice healthcare environment as well as to help assist staff with day to day clerical duties and to increase the level of customer service offered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Job shadowing as appropriate to student interest and availability during interns work hours:
    • Nursing
    • Medical provider
  • Welcome patients
  • Pull patients charts
  • Register patients
  • Filing
  • Update patient files
  • Support CHFC staff with projects as necessary

Intern Qualifications:

Experience with:

·         Interpersonal Skills (flexibility and a mature attitude)

·         Customer Service skills (ability to follow/take instructions; patient, supportive, and has a positive attitude when working with patients)

·         Ability to multi-task with strong organizational and communication skills

·         Microsoft Word

·         Microsoft Excel

·         Familiarity with general office equipment (copy machine, etc.)

Maintaining confidentiality is a must. Professional & trustworthy conduct and courteous & respectful demeanor is a required.

 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
