Seasonal Park Ranger Internship

Iowa County Conservation, Ladora, IA

 

Description: This position will offer opportunities to actively participate in visitor services, resource management, enforcement of rules and regulations, maintenance, and patrolling. Internship Description will be reassessed after second interview with student, and tailored to that individual's internship learning goals.

Duties: Assist in maintenance of park equipment, work with campground hosts and campers, work custodial detail throughout the park, be active in land management practices, write articles for the county conservation newsletter, and other duties as assigned. Weekend work and patrol may be required.

Qualifications: Either be enrolled in or have a degree (or a strong interest) in natural resources, parks and recreation, conservation, environmental studies, wildlife biology, animal ecology, or a related field. The applicant must possess a valid driver’s license, have the ability to get to and from the work-site and be physically able to work in extreme conditions and terrain. Long pants, shirt and boots must be worn at all times. No shorts, tank tops or tennis shoes permitted.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE Staff or sUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. On-site HOURS WILL BE negotiated WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
