Manufacturing Technician

Internship Length: 45 hrs

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow written and verbal instruction.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Feed raw material or parts to machines and assure that they are properly clamped in place.
  • Monitor equipment to assure proper function throughout the process.
  • Monitor the process to assure that the finished products meet the quality and quantity constraints of the company.
  • Control and adjust machine settings.
  • Maintain tooling and adjust/change as needed.
  • Read blueprints for pertinent information.
  • Check output to spot any machine or material related mistakes or flaws.
  • Inspect parts with precision measuring tools.
  • De-burr, clean and package parts to required standards.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Trouble shoot machine and/or process issues.
  • Report to Supervisor(s) or Team Leads keeping them updated on production activities and progress.
  • Communicate and/or document all pertinent information.
  • Clean equipment and area.
  • Work alongside other employees with the common goal to improve performance and reliability of the process.

Qualifications and Essential Skills:

  • Must be 18 years of age to operate machinery.
  • Math Skills: Good math skills will help machine operators understand complex instructions and interpret drawings.
  • Problem Solving Skills: Machine operators will need to know why machines are not at peak performance, how to increase output and how to fix errors.
  • Attention to Detail: Machine operators will work with precision equipment.  Being off by even a small amount could be a critical error.  Keen attention to detail is required.
  • Mechanical and Technical Skills: Some machines are controlled by computers and operators will need to work with computer technology.  Others are highly mechanical and operators will need to know how and why they work.
  • Stamina: Machine operators work long hours doing repetitive movements.
  • Analytical Skills: Machine operators will need to read and understand blueprints, schematics, models and other specifications.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Machine operators will need strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate to all levels within the company.  Must be team oriented.
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations

 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
