JOB TITLE: Events Planning Intern
REPORTS TO: Director of Development (DD) and/or Communications Manager (CM)

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Development, the Events Planning Intern is responsible for many aspects of community relations for the Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity (CVHFH) as it seeks to build increased capacity in the community on an annual basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ø  Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadline and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities. 

Ø  Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in individual and group settings.

Ø  Basic computer skills to include proficiency in word- processing programs including e-mail and internet operations. Ability to compose memos, letters, fliers, etc.

Ø  Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision and beliefs in accordance with operating policies and procedures

Position Description:

Ø  Plan and attend affiliate awareness functions related to building stronger relationships with stakeholders throughout the community

Ø  Advocate & represent Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity at any events including but not limited to home dedications, speaking engagements and other various activities

Ø  Generate thank-you notes and assist in general outreach efforts to new and existing supports

Ø  Initiate calls and respond to phone inquiries of various types

Ø  Work with CM to develop various communications to include e-mail and hard copy newsletters, website, social networking, graphic design, etc.

Ø  Coordinate and monitor event timelines and ensure deadlines are met.

Ø  Coordinate event logistics, including registration and attendee tracking, presentation and materials support

Ø  Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process

Ø  Assist with preparing budgets and provide periodic progress reports to DD & CM for each event project.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
