Functions:

  • Weekly Duties: Oil slow hand-pieces, Run disinfectant in waterlines (Fridays only), water lines clear and rinsed on Monday am clearing out disinfectant, clean the x-ray machines, clean sterilizer on Fridays, clean suction traps, vacuum and sweep floors as needed
  • Daily Duties:Clean out drawers in rooms, clean and organize counter tops in rooms, fill supplies, vacuum and dust, clean bathroom, wipe windows, clean lab, tidy magazines, assist front desk in pulling charts and ledgers, assist doctor with any other needs/procedures as requested.
  • Front office support as needed: Chart maintenance, patient information cards, referral letters, update delinquent log,

 

Requirements:

  • Student must complete the Iowa State Dental Board -Student Dental Assistant application and requirements.
  • Basic Knowledge includes: Ability to learn and successfully perform: Transfer instruments, keep the field clear, suctioning techniques, know instrumentation, ability to be a lifelong learner, only perform legal procedures as set by the state dental board, anticipate the needs of the procedure/dentist, keep uniform tidy and professional, keep office orderly and professional, put supplies away in an orderly fashion and be mindful of product expiration dates, Toffelmeir and gold bands procedures, keep office and composite instruments clean and orderly, learn the supply ordering and inventory processes, complete continuing education as needed, assure that personal cell phone is on silent or turned off.

 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
