Internship Job Title: CNA Student Intern
Reports to: Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing


Position Overview
Provide personal care services, assistance, support and supervision to residents, through R.N. delegation.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing services to each resident according to the resident service plan.
Assist in updating each resident's service plan. 
Make residents' beds daily.
Launder residents' clothing, linen and towels, fold and return to residents.
Serve meals and bus tables during mealtimes.
Assist with minor housekeeping of residents' apartments.
Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, eating, hygiene, and mobility.
Monitor health, safety and well-being of the residents.
Document information pertaining to changes in residents' functional status, personal needs, appointments, etc.
Report concerns about residents to supervisor. 

Activities and Resident Involvement:
Conduct activities as requested by Program Director. 
Promote activities enthusiastically to pique residents' interest.
Assist residents to and from activities as needed.
Maintain a safe, home-like, and pleasant environment for residents.
Practice safety in working around and with equipment, chemicals, tools and utensils.
Maintain a cheerful, positive, and upbeat demeanor at all times. 
Maintain confidentiality of all resident/staff information. 
Treat each resident with dignity and respect (use resident's name when addressing, not slang such as "honey" or "sweetie").

Working Behaviors:
Adhere to and carry out all policies and procedures.
Regular attendance is essential. 
Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, facility operation and personnel.
Promote facility in a positive way. 
Report on-the-job injuries to the supervisor immediately.

Knowledge Expectations:
Knowledge of Basic First Aid.
HIPPA requirements.

Working Conditions:
Heated/Air-conditioned; well-lit facility with minimal barriers.
Working with cleaning chemicals.

Standards:
Residents always come first, and their needs will be met unless there is a conflict with the needs of others or the organization as a whole. 
Intern will not work under the influence of mood-altering or illegal drugs or alcohol.
Neat appearance, adherence to the dress code and good personal hygiene are expected.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
