POSITION SUMMARY

Performs functions to help achieve the Department’s mission in the areas of the core public health functions and essential services. Assist with the delivery of services to ensure the health of the community by gathering, analyzing information, investigating, and educating the community about public health issues.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Gather information from varied sources to assess an aspect of the health of the community.

Analyze data to determine existence, cause, and probable solutions to reported or detected health patterns in the community.

Assist in the design of data collection methods to maintain and report community-wide health status.

Prepare a written report on a community health concern that can be incorporated into the Jones County Community Health Needs Assessment.

Assist with the implementation of projects that address the Jones County Health Improvement Plan.

Participate in meetings and committees (internal/external) as appropriate.

Assist with reportable disease follow-up and annual immunization record audits.

Create and publish posts for the Jones County Public Health Facebook page and Twitter account.

Research information to update and expand resources on the Jones County Public Health website.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with all levels of staff, outside agencies, and diverse public groups.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to proficiently utilize basic computer skills to perform word processing, electronic spreadsheet, or database tasks.

Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.
