Abode Construction is a locally owned and operated commercial and residential construction company that employs skilled team members. We provide a wide range of construction-relevant services in-house, including Land Development, Excavation, Water and Sewer Infrastructure, Site and Building Design, Building Construction, and Landscaping.

 

Work Environment:
Abode Companies operates both in a professional office environment and a job site environment. Office Environment - While performing the duties of this role, the intern may use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.  Job site environments - While performing the duties of this role, the intern may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The intern may be occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud

Essential Functions:


  • Rotation with department project managers in Residential Construction, Commercial Construction, Landscape Division, Office Mgmt, and the Excavation Division.
  • Student will have experience with collaborative meetings and the use of blueprints.
  • Help keep jobsite neat and organized to promote positive image. Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision and beliefs and in accordance with operating procedures and policies.


Minimum Requirements:


  • Ability to thoroughly follow instructions and have strong time-management skills. Must have organizational and communication skills, be collaborative, and enjoy working in a team environment without bias or prejudice. Professional and ethical conduct is required. Natural mechanical abilities helpful, along with basic knowledge of tools and a construction environment.
  • Must be a high school student in good standing. 
  • Preference given to students in their high school Building Trades classes.
  • Student must wear appropriate clothing (nothing loose or baggy) and should wear a work shoe or boot. A professional appearance is essential.

 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
