Design Engineering Intern

Internship Title: Design Engineering Intern

 

Essential Functions:

Assists in design/process updates and projects in the area of product development with a focus on line extensions with design engineer supervision. Coordinates with all departments (product line management, production, purchasing/sourcing, and quality) to ensure smooth production start-up.  Provides engineering support for existing products including root cause investigation and failure analysis. On-site hours to will be negotiated with each intern.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities may include the following (other duties may be assigned):

·   Product Design: Assist with Design/development of needle-guidance accessories, end product components/assemblies, packaging configurations, labeling & instructions. Utilizes 3D CAD (PTC Creo)

·   Project Management: Scheduling, tracking, and communicating to mentor and design team. Coordinating deliverables and design control (DHF) documentation. Implementing entire design cycle requirements

·     Product Support: Investigate production or process issues and complete drawing or process changes. Support Product Line Management, Marketing and Production staff

·     Continuous Process Improvement: Evaluate internal process and give process improvement ideas & implementation strategies

Skills and Abilities Required:

·   Able to work in a team environment and independently

·   Demonstrates good communication skills: Email, via Phone and Face to Face

·   Experience with Microsoft Excel for spreadsheets, Microsoft Word for word processing

·   Experience with manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining and assembly.

·   Attention to detail 

·   Organizational skills - Demonstrates problem solving skill and analytical thinking
