Dermatology Rotation Intern

Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: 7:30-5:00 Mon-Thurs

Essential functions:

Observe and assist (when appropriate) the front desk staff with check in, check out, meet and greet of patients
Observe and assist (when appropriate) the doctor and staff with the treatment of patients.
Accompany the doctor or team in daily activities.
Answer phones, filing and data entry, when appropriate.
Maintain HIPPA and professionalism in all encounters
Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image.
Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, beliefs, and in accordance with operating procedures and policies.

Minimum requirements:

Skills/Knowledge: Ability to follow instructions. Have strong organizational and communication skills, be a team player, and enjoy working with the public without bias or prejudice. Professional, trustworthy, and courteous conduct is required. Maintaining confidentiality is a must. Must be poised and mature.
Experience/Education: Must be a high school junior or senior in good standing who has completed at least one medical job shadow and an internship already. Preference given to students who are current volunteers at one of the hospitals or have completed or are taking the Pre-Professional or Patient Care Academy through Kirkwood Community College as a dual-credit option.
Physical effort and dexterity: Spends majority of time sitting, standing, bending, lifting and walking.
Environment and Scheduling: Work is performed in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled environment. Business casual attire is required.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
