POSITION: Law Enforcement Intern
JOB SUMMARY
The Law Enforcement Intern will work with the Marengo Police Department personnel to gain an understanding of what is involved in the day to day operation and functions of the police department.  The Intern will assist in day to day tasks as well as special projects as determined by the agency. The functions may include and are not limited to various filing and record systems, method of communication, emergency equipment, chain of command, interoperability between various levels of government, interaction with the public, interaction with other agencies and other general police department operations. The intern may assist with special events such as traffic control. Interns activities will include riding with police officers in police vehicles. The Intern will be exposed to private and sensitive matters in which confidentiality is of the upmost importance. The Intern must maintain that confidentiality at all times. Interns will dress appropriately as approved by the department.
THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. THE INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY OFFICERS OR SUPERVISORS. THE INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CITIZENS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
Safety expectations, including harassment, will be reviewed with the host.
