Construction Management/Project Engineer Intern

Internship Length: 90 hrs
Office Hours: 8:00-5:00, M-F

PURPOSE:

This interim entry-level construction management position in Ryan’s Project Management or Field Departments assists project teams in the completion of designated projects while focusing on learning construction industry processes, procedures and Ryan business policies. The position objective is to educate the student in field and office construction operations and gain real-world experience. 

JOB DETAILS:

Student will work with college interns and staff to be introduced to some combination of the following:
* Keep office and jobsite plans updated.
* Learn safety policies and procedures.
* Support site logistics and coordination.
* Gain an understanding of the city and jurisdictional permit inspection process.
* Work with project photo documentation.
* Exposure to quality control inspections.
* Exposure to the estimating process and bidding process.
* Assist with additional assignments per Project Manager’s direction.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

* Be a high school junior or senior in good standing interested in architecture, construction, management, and/or engineering.
* Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
* Competency in, and effective use of, computer systems to perform job responsibilities,
* Interest in learning to read and understand contracts, specifications and architectural and engineering drawings and models.
* Ability to assume responsibility, as well as interface and communicate effectively.
* Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
