About Us:

Clarence Main Street is a 501(c)(3) non-profit civic program whose purpose is to assist the City of Clarence and the commercial business district of Clarence revitalize the downtown area. CMS is driven by a 9 member Board of Directors and is funded by donations from the City of Clarence, local businesses and private citizens.

Clarence Main Street has one employee, the Executive Director, whose job is to oversee the day to day functions of CMS.

Job Duties Include but are not Limited to:
-  Administrative duties necessary to remain in compliance with Main Street Iowa and Main Street America program requirements.
-  Marketing, social media and newspaper press releases.
-  Attendance at City of Clarence Council meetings to report on the program’s activities.
-  Attendance at the Clarence Main Street Board of Directors meetings to report on the Executive Directors activities, act as a liaison between the Board and the committees and keep the Board informed of MSI and MSA news.
-  Attendance at Committee meetings to offer assistance as needed or communicate with the committee chairperson.
-  Attendance at mandatory MSI training workshops and distribution of relevant information learned to CMS committee chairpersons.
-  Research grant opportunities available.
-  Visit CMS district businesses at least 5 hours per week.
-  Build relationships with the community and seek out new volunteers.

Job Requirements Include but are not Limited to:
-  The ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with different personalities.
-  The ability to keep personal information confidential and refrain from gossip.
-  An ability to multi-task.
-  Some creativity and the ability to collaborate with others.
-  Basic technology skills and the willingness to learn more.
-  Basic Social media skills and the willingness to learn more.
-  A willingness to be flexible in scheduling.
-  Light physical activity.
-  A valid driver license and reliable transportation.
-  Knowledge of and access to business casual attire. No obvious athletic/work-out wear, ripped clothing, etc. Exceptions can be made if there is no time for a change of clothing and/or the activities being performed that day warrant that type of clothing. For the most part you should be prepared for your appearance to matter.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
