Public Works Utility Intern

Summary:

This position will work with our certified staff on both water and sewer to gain an understanding of the daily operations and weekly / monthly testing that goes into running a public utility system. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Assist with operations and maintenance activities within facilities

·         Assist with compliance regulatory requirements

·         Assist with daily chores at water and wastewater facilities

·         Assist with collecting water and wastewater samples and perform lab tests

·         Assist with minor repairs at water and wastewater facilities

·         Assist in documentation of daily logs of plants operations

·         Assist with keeping sight and grounds and treatment plants clean and neat

·         Keep the Superintendent informed about activities and work performed at the facilities

·         Assist in performing in all public works departments as assigned

·         Ability to work independently and take responsibility for duties assigned

·         Work with others and in a team orientated setting

·         Performs work safely in accordance with departmental safety procedures

·         Operates equipment safely

·         Reports any unsafe condition or practice to supervisor

·         Wiliness and eagerness to learn

·         Use computers to store and monitor data

·         Excellent customer service

·         Work both indoors and outdoors

·         Heaving lifting may be required

Relationship to others:

Reports to the Water and Wastewater Superintendent and City Administrator

Working Hours:

Hours may vary.  Work schedule to be set with agreement with both the City and Intern.
