Introduction:

Noah’s Ark Preschool is a Christian preschool in Belle Plaine, Iowa.

Description of Role:

· Use and model appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision, and beliefs and in accordance with operation procedures and policies.

· Welcome, value and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences.

· Be responsible for providing and monitoring a safe, clean, orderly, inviting, and developmentally appropriate learning environment in the classroom and playground.

· Be focused on the children at all times.

· Communicate with children making eye contact when appropriate and use appropriate language and voice tones.

· Be actively involved with the children during meals, snack, including eating meals with the children and modeling good eating habits.

· Plan and carry out experiences in all areas of development, adjusting them to meet the needs of the individual child and the group.

· Build a positive relationship with families, while maintaining confidentiality.

Minimum Requirements:

· Skills/Knowledge: Ability to follow instructions, strong organizational and communication skills, and be a team player. Must be detail-oriented, courteous and respectful. Professional, trustworthy, and confidential conduct is required. Intern must enjoy working with young people, be a self-starter, motivated, and able to communicate clearly and concisely at each age level. Must be nurturing, warm, and compassionate when dealing with families and children.

· Experience/Education: Must be a high school student in good standing, and interested in pursuing childcare as a career after High School. Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.

· Attire: Appropriate Casual clothing attire/shoes.

· General Physical Activities with or without reasonable accommodation: Frequent reaching, walking and lifting up to 30lbs. Occasional kneeling, crouching, crawling, sitting, standing, grasping, pulling, and pushing and lifting over 30 lbs.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
