Automated Driving Robotics Platform Intern

Essential Functions:

We will build a small robot vehicle that can be driven by joystick or autonomously with on-board programming. The first sensors will be cameras and the sensing problem will be one of machine vision. The initial goal will be to learn to drive autonomously in a marked lane. A future goal will be to add an articulated trailer and back up in a marked lane. In addition to the physical build, we will develop a simulation environment that can be used to train deep learning models. The vehicle will be used initially for outreach and education, but will perhaps find use as an AV research platform.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
