Electrical Engineering Intern

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Assist Electrical Engineers in field work, calculations, design, drafting and construction observation.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Student will gain a greater appreciation and understanding of self-directed work, work ethic and the creative process.
  • Student will gain the ability to prioritize work orders.
  • Student will gain a greater understanding of the use of their innate skills and abilities to aid in the creative process.
  • Student will realize increased communication abilities and self advocacy skills.
  • Student will provide administrative support to engineers.
  • Student will have exposure to commonly used engineering software programs, blue prints, etc.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Preference will be given to those who have taken Project Lead the Way courses or have been involved in extra-curricular activities that explore engineering concepts. An introduction to CAD is required for this internship which is part of the PLTW coursework. 

The successful candidate must be a high school junior or senior in good standing who can work well with others.  Must be polite, professional and possess a positive attitude.  Must have the ability to follow instructions and be proficient in verbal and written communication skills.  

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
