Bodensteiner Implement Company operates John Deere retail locations serving more than 12 contiguous northeastern Iowa counties through 10 retail locations.  Bodensteiner’s holds contracts with John Deere for Agriculture Equipment, Commercial and Consumer Equipment, and Commercial Worksite Products, in addition to other strategic product partnerships.

The Service Technician Intern, under the general supervision of staff, will perform basic/complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Use and model appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the organization, and in accordance with operation procedures and policies.
  • Welcome, value and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences. 
  •  Set up and testing of all new agricultural and outdoor power equipment.
  •  Perform equipment diagnostics and repairs as needed.
  •  Participate in all job-related training and development.
  •  Assist Mechanics as instructed.
  • Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image.  

Minimum Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge:  Ability to follow instructions.  Must have strong organizational and communication skills, be a team player, and enjoy working with the public without negative bias.  Must be detail-oriented, courteous and respectful.  Professional and trustworthy conduct is required. Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.

Experience/Education:  Must be a high school student in good standing, and interested in pursuing a technician career after high school.  Previous mechanical experience helpful, along with basic knowledge of tools.    

Attire: Plan to dress appropriately for a shop setting.  Jeans or workpants free of holes, closed toed shoes and plain t-shirt and/or sweatshirt.  Be prepared for all weather conditions.

General Physical Activities with or without Reasonable Accommodation:  Occasional sitting, standing, reaching, walking or lifting up to 30lbs.  Frequent kneeling, crouching, crawling, grasping, pulling, pushing or lifting over 30 lbs.  Standing for extended periods of time, and repetitive bending or kneeling will be expected.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, WILL BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
