ThreeD Kitchens is a locally-owned remodeling company in Vinton that works closely with their clients to design dream kitchens, baths, offices, or other room projects.  The knowledgeable staff assists clients in the selection of cabinetry, countertops, floors, tiles, and finishes that will bring the clients’ visions to life.  The company also specializes in fabrication and installation of their clients’ selections.

 

The Design Intern, under the general supervision of ThreeD staff, will observe staff interactions with clients, learn about the types of services the company provides, and gain knowledge of what a career in design could be like, through work based learning. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Use and model appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the organization, and in accordance with operation procedures and policies.
  • Welcome, value and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences.
  • Assist ThreeD staff during onsite visits or in the showroom.  Client confidentiality must be exercised at all times.
  • Take notes or document services provided.
  • Learn from staff how to utilize computer aided design programs.
  • Work with the design team to combine material from the showroom to create an overall aesthetic for client projects.
  • Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote a positive image.  

Minimum Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge:  Must have the ability to follow instructions, strong organizational and communication skills, and be courteous and respectful.  Must be a detail-oriented team player.  Professional, trustworthy, and confidential conduct is required.  Intern must enjoy working with the public without bias, be a self-starter, motivated, and able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing. 

Experience/Education:  Must be a high school student in good standing, and interested in pursuing a career in design or related field after high school.  Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.

Attire: Plan to dress appropriately for a retail setting.  Comfortable shoes, and conservative business casual dress is recommended while in the showroom.  Intern may need to be prepared to dress for outdoor weather conditions while out of the showroom for on-site measures

General Physical Activities with or without reasonable accommodation:  Frequest sitting, standing, reaching, walking or lifting up to 30lbs.  Occasional kneeling, crouching, crawling, grasping, pulling, pushing or lifting over 30 lbs. 

 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, WILL BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
